BRODARICA
Only 5 km from Sibenik, with frequent bus line connections (every 30-60 minutes from Sibenik market or the bus station; less frequent on Sunday and holiday). Ticket from Sibenik costs about 10 kn. There are many lovely sand and rocky beaches here. One of the most popular is Rezaliste, at the beginning of Brodarica. Here you can enjoy the inviting beach bar 'Fjaka' (on occasions with live music). Enough parking space for everyone, too.
One of the oldest and most well known restaurants in this area, Zlatna Ribica, is situated in Brodarica. It's particularly famous for it's fish specialties, but on the charming terrace by the sea you can enjoy incredible meat dishes, shells or crabs as well, complemented with a list of extraordinary wines. Not far from Brodarica, in Podsolarsko, in restaurant Gastro Italiano you can get one of the best pizzas in the area, as well as many other tasty dishes at good price. If you're a horse lover, visit 'Pegasus' equestrian club, famous for it's riding school for children.
The lowest and the flattest inhabited island in the Adriatic, the island of Krapanj, is situated just 300 m from Brodarica. There are boat fares every hour (3 to 4 hours on Sunday). The boat ride doesn't take more than 10 minutes, but the island is so close that you can literally swim over to it. On this little island you'll find the church and monastery of St Cross with many show pieces, most famous among them being 'The Last Supper' from the 16th century and 'Black Madonna on the Throne'. There's a small museum inside the monastery, displaying a collection of corals, amphoras, Antique dishes and sponges (which Krapanj is best known for). You can buy Krapanj sponges in a souvenire shop on the island.
